Elements in Motion – Paintings on a Changing Earth
I am pleased to be exhibiting at the Cómpeta Art Walk 2026, taking place from 18–20 September 2026 in Cómpeta, Andalucía.
This year, 45 artists will present their work across 23 exhibition spaces throughout the village, transforming Cómpeta into a meeting place for contemporary art, photography, painting and visual culture.
For the Art Walk, I will present my new painting project:
ELEMENTS IN MOTION
Paintings on a Changing Earth
Fire. Water. Earth. Movement.
The exhibition explores the elemental forces that shape our planet and a world in constant transformation.
Fire, water and earth are not subjects that I simply want to depict. They are starting points for movement, energy, transformation and materiality.
Colour becomes flow.
A brushstroke becomes movement.
Sand becomes landscape.
The paintings are connected to my perception of a planet in transformation. Climate change and environmental change are present in the work, but not as illustration. What interests me is the tension between beauty and destruction, stability and fragility, creation and disappearance.
The exhibition includes three groups of works — WATER, FIRE and EARTH — combining acrylic painting, sand and mixed media on canvas.
FROM PHOTOGRAPHY TO PAINTING
For decades, photography has been my primary visual medium.
The camera taught me to observe light, structure space and recognise the moment when something becomes visible.
Painting changes this process.
Instead of searching exclusively for an image in the world in front of me, I allow the image itself to emerge through colour, gesture and material.
The camera records what is there.
Painting allows me to explore what is changing.
